Spooky Halloween Party Recipes

Creepy Cupcakes

These decorated devil's food cupcakes are a fun project to involve the kids in. Cut out pictures of whatever your theme is—bugs, worms, monsters, spiders or ghosts—and then try to re-create them with candy like gumdrops, sour worms and gumballs.

These decorated devil's food cupcakes are a fun project to get the kids involved. Cut out pictures of whatever your theme is -- bugs, worms, monsters, spiders, or ghosts -- and then try to re-create them with candy.

Ingredients
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 teaspoons baking soda
3/4 cups milk
1/4 cup butter, at room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 large egg
Chocolate Buttercream

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2. Place everything but the eggs directly into your mixer bowl. Mix on low speed just until incorporated. Beat on high speed for 2 minutes. Add egg, beat on high speed again for 2 minutes.

3. Measure out into cupcake pan lined with cupcake papers; a 2-inch ice cream scoop works great for this. Bake for about 15-20 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the cupcake comes out clean. Let cool slightly in the pan, then transfer to a rack to cool completely before frosting with Chocolate Buttercream.

4. Decorate as desired; some decorating ideas:
Gumballs (for large eyes with edible ink eye ball, or use a drop of frosting)
Gumdrops or Dots for small eyes
Sour spaghetti candy for hair
Sour worms

October's Party

October’s Party
by George Cooper

October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came.
The Chestnuts, Oaks and Maples,
And leaves of every name.

The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.

The Chestnuts came in yellow,
The Oaks in crimson dressed;
The lovely Misses Maple
In scarlet looked their best.

All balanced to their partners,
And gaily fluttered by;
The sight was like a rainbow
New fallen from the sky.

Hello Everyone. This is my very first blog. Today is suppose to be the luckiest day of the year 08-08-08. My wishes to All of you. I am in LOVE. I just moved to California from New York, and I am in love with the weather in Ventura. I love the little things in life and appreciate them. I walk pass the gov. ctr(place of employment) smelling the magnolias. Wow the flowers are as large as your head. They are soo beautiful, and the fragrance!!!! They have fountains that shoot water and the mist hits you when you walk by. You will also find a constant little breeze. (I am sure the people who work there take this for granted), but not me. Remember a smile to someone can change their day and yours. So SMILE, SMILE and say hello. Miles of smiles to you, Susan
